Work From Home Advice https://arsmediabd.com/workfromhome/ Fri, 14 Jan 2022 17:37:48 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9962 Our TinyEYE team shares some work from home inspiration and tips

As a company whose mission is to grow smiles, mend spirits and engage children in their lives, you just know we have some pretty special people on our team. Our team is full of individuals who uplift those around them and make TinyEYE such a wonderful place to work.

Our TinyEYE team created the world’s first online therapy platform and we have helped thousands of children to thrive in their lives. We are passionate about creating a culture of belonging, recognition and achievement for all of our colleagues. Did you know that most of our team works their magic while working from home? As working from home begins to be the new normal for a lot of people, our team was already reaping the benefits from the work from home lifestyle. Here are some work from home tips from one of our Marketing TinyEYE team members, Sabrina.

1) How do you stay connected with your peers and your clients?
Teams is my best friend! Quick chats, video calls to keep things “human” and an easy interface makes it easy to stay connected.

2) What Does a Typical Day Look Like For You?
That depends on what major projects we have going on! I would say everyday is a mix of strategic planning, putting myself in the customers’ shoes and taking a step back to understand their realities, creative writing or design on campaigns, analyzing numbers and partnering with colleagues to develop exciting content for our customers.

3) Have You Learned Anything About Yourself Since You Started Working Remotely?
Glasses can cover up any bad night’s sleep on camera haha!

4) It’s Lunchtime : What’s on the menu for you?
I love making healthy salads and smoothies for lunch since I have access to my “fresh” produce all day long!

5) Any Tips and Tricks for anyone just starting remote work?
Plan your day just as you would working outside of the house. Get into a healthy routine and keep it up every day. And don’t forget to take 5 mins here and there to get to know your coworkers – it makes work so much more fun.

6) Best part about working from home?
Coffee on tap!!! And my kitten coming to say hello every hour or so.

7) Tell us something special about your home office?
Essential oils or candles. Being in my own space gives me the opportunity to set up a calming and productive work environment that helps me get into a groove (and into my own little happy world).

8) Do you have any pets that keep you company?
I sure do! I have a little ball of energy; an Egyptian Mau kitten called Miku. She thinks she owns the place and that I’m just there to pay the bills, feed her and pet her on demand. I mean, she is right. We’re making it work. And I love every second of it.

Thanks for sharing your work from home tips Sabrina. We are so grateful for our employees and if you are interested in becoming a therapist with us or a member of our corporate team, please click HERE to visit our careers section.

2022 New Years Resolutions https://arsmediabd.com/newyearsresolutions/ Thu, 06 Jan 2022 19:07:46 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9928 There is something so promising and exciting as we look ahead into the new year.

The post 2022 New Years Resolutions appeared first on TinyEYE.

Happy New Year everyone!

From our TinyEYE family to yours, we wish you all the best for the coming new year. There is something so promising and exciting as we look ahead into the new year. We’ve seen all those popular New Year’s resolution lists before—the ones with the complicated cleanses, intense workout plans, and sincere intentions to create new healthy habits. Many of us set goals, intentions and resolutions for the future, but how about for 2022 we roll with the notion that there is nothing to “resolve”, you are all absolutely perfect. Be kind to yourself, drink water, work hard, celebrate love and trust that it will all work out in the end.

As we head into 2022, we are focusing on optimism, instead of a long list of things that need to “change”. There is always reason for optimism. There has to be.

So go ahead, get your hopes up for 2022 and CELEBRATE! (even if was at your home and in your jammies by 9pm on NYE).   This year, we are going to pursue optimism and happiness and here are a few ways that we are going to get there in 2022.

 • Our team is working together through the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People book and journal. We will work through these 7 habits together to gain a principle-centered, character-based, inside-out approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness.

 • Get Outside !!! Being a Canadian company, you know we have some beautiful views from our home office. Why not get outside and enjoy them more? Even if you don’t consider yourself outdoorsy, it’s a proven fact that connecting with nature reduces stress. So go for walk, watch a sunrise or sunset, or take that extra lap around the park with your favorite work from home furry friend. The fresh air will do you good!
 • Learn something new!!! When we learn something we feel better, more confident in ourselves and our ability to tackle all sorts of new tasks. You are empowered!

Look out 2022, we have every reason to be excited and optimistic about you.

Ways To Gift Without The “Gift” https://arsmediabd.com/giftswithoutthegifts/ Tue, 21 Dec 2021 22:39:25 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9908 Instead of adding to the deluge of material items, consider giving experiences or really think of what matters the most to you this Christmas.

As Marie Kondo would agree, most of us have too much “stuff”.

So instead of adding to the deluge of material items, consider giving experiences or really think of what matters the most to you this Christmas. Most of the time, it isn’t STUFF. The best Christmas gifts aren’t always the most expensive. In fact, free (or almost free) Christmas presents usually require a bit more thought, care, and creativity. Your thought, time and energy will be appreciated by the recipient and make you feel good & warm & fuzzy too.

Here are 3 ways to give at Christmas without buying a “gift”

1) Offer your services:

Coupons good for free house-sitting, pet-sitting, or babysitting would likely be welcome by any gift recipient. Get the kids crafting and designing some beautiful “gift certificates” for mom and dad or grandma and grandpa. As they are designing make sure to ask lots of questions to get chatting and engaging with you.

2) Give the gift of donating money:

You just choose a gift amount, then the person you donate to can give the money to a charity organization they love.  At TinyEYE we love and have worked with these charitable organizations:
Your local Food Bank
Canadian Youth Business Association
Raj Manek Mentorship Foundation
American Red Cross & Canadian Blood Services
World Vision

3) TIME :

It seems the main thing we’re all poor in these days, is time. We’re always running against the clock, late for something, or sacrificing relaxation and sleep. Giving someone your time is a real sign of love and affection. Take your loved ones for coffee, help them organize their basement or build an outdoor hockey rink together. Time is money!!!

TinyEYE is your trusted advisor and the teletherapy company that can offer a big virtual hug when you need it the most. So make your holiday season all about the hugs and thoughts vs. the material things this Christmas.

Holiday Themed OT Activities https://arsmediabd.com/occupationaltherapyholidays/ Thu, 16 Dec 2021 00:41:44 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9857 Now, in celebration of the winter season, we thought it’d be the perfect time to show your creative side off with some fun winter OT activities.

Occupational Therapy

In addition to our award winning speech therapy sessions, TinyEYE offers occupational therapy services as well. Our commitment to you is our commitment to your students. Every action we take is directed toward improving student outcomes and creating efficient, scalable services that make a difference in the lives of each and every one of our therapy students.

There are many benefits to online occupational therapy. Teletherapy opens doors by improving access to services to those who wouldn’t otherwise get occupational therapy. Sessions are convenient and put emphasis on patient education and the student’s needs. We only contract the very best therapists to work with TinyEYE students. Our online occupational therapists are carefully selected based on character, skill and spark.

Now, in celebration of the winter season, we thought it’d be the perfect time to show your creative side off with some fun winter OT activities. All of the activities work on kids fine motor skills and get’s their creative juices flowing.

1) Build a Graham Cracker Gingerbread House
Helps with fine motor, visual perceptual and motor planning skills. Tastes yummy too! The real challenge is not eating all the candy before it gets glued to the house with icing.

2) Ice Painting
Make ice “paintbrushes” to paint a picture. Freeze food coloring and water with a small toothpick in an ice cube tray. When frozen, use the toothpick to guide your ice cube on paper for some beautiful artwork. Holding the toothpick and “painting” will be quite the occupational therapy experience for your little one.

3) Build a Snowman
Does it get any better than this? Get outside and build a good old fashioned snowman. Make sure have your child use their fingers to add eyes, a nose and a happy smile. Don’t forget the carrot!

4) Sledding Outdoors
Ready, Set, Slide!! Get some vestibular input with natural winter fun. Who knew occupational therapy could be such a thrill? Have some prizes for the first to cross the finish line.

5) Tactile Snow Bin
Use real snow as the “main ingredient” in a bin full of winter themed treasures hidden within. Make sure to have towels handy to warm those cold hands.

6) Snow Spraying
Use a spray bottle filled with water and food coloring. Keep spraying to change the snow’s color. This is wonderful for developing hand strength and creativity!

We are a Canadian company, so you know we are the winter activity specialists! Bring on the snow and the FUN!

Gift Ideas To Encourage Speech https://arsmediabd.com/gift-ideas-to-encourage-speech/ Fri, 10 Dec 2021 20:37:56 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9825 These are all great suggestions to get your sweet kids talking!

The post Gift Ideas To Encourage Speech appeared first on TinyEYE.

]]>

It’s that time of year again (well, almost!). If they haven’t already, your children will soon be making their list for Santa Claus, and holiday presents can be a great opportunity to buy toys that will help develop your child’s communication skills.

We know that play skills are fundamental for communication development. Children learn language, speech and social rules through play, such as turn-taking, joint attention, and listening skills. Playing with toys also gives parents a wonderful opportunity to model appropriate behavior and label objects and actions.

Here are some Christmas ideas for your little one! They are all great suggestions to get your sweet kiddos chatting! There is a general theme between all of these gifts – Simple is best!

1) Ditch the battery toys
If the toy requires batteries, you probably don’t want it. You want your kids to make animal noises & phrases, not the toy!

2) Pick Open Ended Toys –
Toys that have no beginning, middle or end. Time for creativity with magnatiles, objects from nature, art supplies, dolls, and cars.

3) Get Back To Basics
Most of these provide a fantastic opportunity for conversation and to ask questions with your kids. For example:
Doll House
Mr. Potato Head
Play Dough
Dress up clothes
Tool Set
Tea Set

This being said, remember your child does NOT need toys upon toys! Believe it or not, children can get overwhelmed with too many toys and can end up moving quickly from one toy to another which can actually limit their language opportunities overall.

Does Mask Wearing Impair Speech Development? https://arsmediabd.com/masks/ Thu, 02 Dec 2021 21:42:21 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9795 The concern about masks covering the face is understandable with speech development.

Masks

Being that TinyEYE is a company that specializes in speech therapy, we couldn’t help but wonder the effects of mask wearing and speech development.

Although this is a topic that deserves it’s own website not just a blog post, we came across some promising facts. During the first year of life speech and language are emerging in a major major way. A key part of learning to communicate and speech development for a child is watching the faces, mouths, and expressions of the people closest to them. Babies and young children study faces intently, so the concern about solid masks covering the face is understandable.

However, there are NO known studies that use of a face mask negatively impacts a child’s speech and language development.

Remember, babies and toddlers learn the most from their family! Families can help with speech and language development and social communication through face time at home with family members who aren’t wearing masks. So next time you are singing to your sweet child, make sure to animate your best “Adele” impression.
And remember:

“Kids are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Kids adjust, they adapt, and when they don’t have to wear them, they’ll adapt again! And development is obviously not linear. There’s ups and downs, even in days before face masks.”

Mindfulness & Kids https://arsmediabd.com/mindfulness-kids/ Thu, 25 Nov 2021 19:14:33 +0000 https://arsmediabd.com/?p=9760 Teaching children the powerful tool of mindfulness can help them function well in school and in life.

The post Mindfulness & Kids appeared first on TinyEYE.

]]>

Don’t ever underestimate the power of mindfulness.

Often a concept that we come across as adults, mindfulness is making a strong case as more and more evidence is proving the benefits of practicing this as children. Maybe creating a safe and positive place for our kids to learn might begin with creating some space for them to breathe?

Did you know that children today are faced with an unforeseen amount of stress and anxiety? According to the National Institutes of Mental Health, 25% of 13- to 18-year-olds will experience an anxiety disorder. The global pandemic, social media, increasing scholastic pressures are just a few mediums responsible for the new type of pandemic. In response to this, we are so proud to now offer Mental Health Services at TinyEYE In today’s complex world, schools are asked to reach beyond academic and physical education to help children learn while overcoming issues from anxiety and depression to PTSD and ADHD, or addiction and self harm. We know mental health greatly influences a child’s ability to thrive, and TinyEYE wants to help!

TinyEYE’s Mental Health Program provides schools with access to qualified mental health professionals, timely assessments, experienced counselors, and customized support tools so you can make a difference in your students’ lives. Whether you need a full suite of mental health support, or assistance serving a growing caseload for your existing staff, TinyEYE offers online access to the support and resources your students need to succeed. Now lets explore how mindfulness can be an important tool when addressing mental health.

Mindfulness is the idea of learning how to be fully present and engaged in the moment, aware of your thoughts and feelings without distraction or judgment. Sounds easy and natural, doesn’t it? It is actually a skill that takes practice and patience, but once mastered, it can be extremely beneficial. Mindfulness can help improve your well-being and quality of life. It may help reduce stress and anxiety and assist mental and physical health. Mindfulness can help us look at our own lives more clearly. It can help develop a different relationship with our experiences and it can give us space to look at problems from all perspectives, without becoming lost in difficult thoughts or feelings that only make us feel worse.

We love how the New York Times explained why mindfulness is so effective for children. Basically, it can be explained by the way the brain develops: “While our brains are constantly developing throughout our lives, connections in the prefrontal circuits are created at their fastest rate during childhood. Mindfulness, which promotes skills that are controlled in the prefrontal cortex, like focus and cognitive control, can therefore have a particular impact on the development of skills including self-regulation, judgment and patience during childhood.”

Teaching children the powerful tool of mindfulness can help them function well in school and in life. Wondering about how you can incorporate mindfulness into the classroom?

Here are a few easy ways:

 1. Mindful Breathing – Slow, conscious breathing will help your kids manage their feelings and shift their mind-body states. Try teaching them “Bee Breaths” by breathing in through your nose and with your mouth closed, exhale slowly and make a hum noise in the back of your throat.
 2. Active Mindfulness – Teach your kids to turn on their “Spiderman” senses! Ask them questions on what they can hear, see, feel, & smell. Try this during snacktime to encourage a focused sense of being.
 3. Gratitude Journals – Encouraging your classroom to start a gratitude journal may help the kids take notice of small, everyday details of their lives and to appreciate the good.

Well we are feeling inspired and excited about these mental health tools and again please reach out if TinyEYE can help your school with any mental health needs.
