  2. Residency Application: Apply online for Initial Registration of Residency Post-Graduate Degree Supervised Experience for School Psychologist Licensure.
  3. Experience: Complete 1,500 hours of post-graduate degree supervised experience in school psychological services within 1-3 years.
  4. Examination Application: Apply online for School Psychologist Licensure by Examination and submit all required documents.
  5. Examination: Register, take, and pass the EPPP Part 1-Knowledge exam.
  6. Receive Your License: After passing the exam, the Board will notify you via email about your licensure approval.

Steps to Becoming a School Psychologist by Endorsement

If you already hold an active School Psychologist license in another jurisdiction, you can apply for licensure by endorsement:

  1. Endorsement Application: Apply online for Licensure by Endorsement.
  2. Submit Required Documents: Provide necessary documents, including license verification and NPDB self-query report.
  3. Receive Your License: Once approved, the Board will email you regarding your new license.

Steps to Becoming a School Psychologist-Limited

For those interested in a more limited practice within public schools:

  1. Education: Complete a master's degree in psychology.
  2. Board of Education License: Hold a current license with a psychology endorsement from the Virginia Board of Education.
  3. Employment: Be currently employed by a school system under the Virginia Department of Education.
  4. Application: Apply for Licensure as a School Psychologist-Limited and submit all required documents.
  5. Receive Your License: Once approved, you will receive an email regarding your new license.
