In the wake of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico faced unprecedented challenges, particularly in managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). A recent study, "The impact of Hurricane Maria on individuals living with non-communicable disease in Puerto Rico: the experience of 10 communities," highlights the critical gaps in disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience that exacerbated the plight of individuals with NCDs.
