- Registration Application: Apply for initial supervision approval and submit required documents.

Types of Licenses
The Board of Social Work licenses the following types of social workers:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW)
- Supervisee in Clinical Social Work
Communication and Documentation
Communication with the Board is primarily through email. Ensure that you add the Board's email address to your safe recipient list to receive all communications. Applicants can apply online and upload required supporting documents using the online application portal.
Important Considerations
Before submitting your application, ensure that it is complete to avoid delays. Incomplete applications remain active for one year from the date of payment. If your application is not completed within this timeframe, you will need to reapply.
Supervision and Experience
Supervised post-degree experience is a prerequisite for clinical licensure. You must complete a minimum of 3,000 hours of supervised experience within 2-4 consecutive years. Supervision must be conducted by a licensed clinical social worker with at least two years of post-licensure experience.
Examination
Once you have completed the required supervised experience, you must apply for licensure by examination and take the ASWB examination. You must pass the exam within two years of the initial Board approval.
Receiving Your License
Upon passing the exam, the ASWB will transfer your scores to the Board office. You will receive your license via email, and a paper license will be mailed to you within 30 days.
