At TinyEYE, we understand the importance of streamlined processes for professionals seeking to provide online therapy services. If you are a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) from another regulated Canadian province, here's a concise guide to help you navigate the licensing process in Ontario.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for registration in Ontario as a "labour mobility" applicant, you must:
- Hold an out-of-province certificate of registration from your province's regulatory body (e.g., CHCPBC, ACSLPA, SASLPA, CASLPM, OOAQ, NBASLPA, NLCHP, NSCASLP, CASLPPEI) that is the same or substantially similar to the certificate of registration you are applying for in Ontario.
- Submit an application form for Labour Mobility Applicants by contacting CASLPO’s Director of Registration Services.
- Provide information regarding your past conduct history, including any complaints, disciplinary, or other proceedings related to your competence, conduct, or character.
- Submit a letter from every regulatory body where you currently or have previously held a certificate of registration or license, confirming that your certificate is in good standing.
- Provide evidence of patient care or related work in audiology or speech-language pathology during the three years immediately preceding your application date if you are applying for a general certificate in Ontario.
- Have professional liability insurance coverage.
- Pay all applicable fees.
Application Process and Timelines
Upon submission, your application will be acknowledged within 15 days. If your application is incomplete, you will receive a list of outstanding documents via email. Your application will not be processed until it is complete.
If you meet the College’s requirements for a certificate of registration, you will be given a registration form to complete and send back to the College. The processing and granting of registration take approximately one week after the completed registration form is received.
If you do not meet the College’s requirements, you will receive a formal "Notice of Referral" to the Registration Committee within 30 days of the College’s acknowledgment of your complete application. This notice outlines deficiencies and serves as a referral to the Registration Committee, which will make the final decision regarding your registration.
You will have 30 days to make a written submission to the College regarding your application, which may include:
- An acknowledgment of receipt of the Registrar’s notice of referral.
- A personal statement regarding the deficiencies found in your application.
- Any additional evidence to support your application.
After considering your submission, the Registration Committee may make an order to:
- Direct the Registrar to issue a certificate of registration.
- Direct the Registrar to issue a certificate of registration if you successfully complete additional training, experience, examination, or assessments specified by the panel.
- Direct the Registrar to refuse to issue a certificate of registration.
The Registration Committee’s decision will be provided in writing approximately five weeks following the Committee’s meeting date.
