Credentialing Pathways
Kentucky provides multiple pathways to obtain a school psychologist credential. One of the most recognized routes is through the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification. This credential is widely accepted and can streamline your journey to becoming a school psychologist in Kentucky.
SEA Credential
The State Education Agency (SEA) credential is another primary route. To qualify, you must:
- Hold a master's or specialist degree
- Complete a minimum of 60 graduate semester hours
The NCSP is also accepted as a valid route to obtaining the SEA credential, making it a versatile option for many candidates.
Provisional Credential
If you're still completing your graduate coursework, a Provisional Credential may be the right fit. This credential requires:
- Completion of specific coursework
- A university recommendation
The Provisional Credential is nonrenewable and is valid for:
- 1 year for a full-time internship
